A year of work for one Christmas dinner

A Christmas hamper looks like a few days of work in December. In reality, hundreds of volunteers work towards it all year round.

This is what our year looks like

A luxury Christmas hamper, delivered in person

Rocking Up X-Mas gives families in poverty and lonely older people a luxury Christmas hamper with everything for a three-course dinner. Volunteers deliver it in person at the door. The giver stays anonymous and wishes them a merry Christmas, hoping the recipient will one day do the same for someone else.

Everything is done by volunteers, including the board. We have no paid staff. We are an ANBI-certified foundation, so a contribution may be tax deductible.

A hamper made with care

The menu is where the care begins. This is what a recipient finds in the hamper.

A chef creates the menu

Every year a chef puts the menu together. That makes the recipient the proud chef of their own Christmas dinner, instead of someone who receives help.

For everyone

The menu is halal and alcohol free as standard, with a full vegetarian alternative always included. There are gifts for the children.

Together at the table

Lonely older people receive a hamper for two, a reason to invite someone to share the meal.

We also think of teenagers aged 12 to 18, who often fall between the cracks at charities. In 2025, all 1,145 teenagers in our target group received a cinema voucher.

Organised locally, supported nationally

Each location

Each location is independent and led by a location manager with their own team of volunteers. The location handles contact with the care workers who refer families, finds local support and coordinates the volunteers.

The national board

The board takes care of the recipe and the purchase of the menu, national communication, legal frameworks and payments. The board also distributes national donations.

Work all year round

That is why becoming a partner is more than a contribution in December: you support an organisation that is busy all year.

January to March

Evaluating and recharging

We evaluate and improve our processes for next year. We take a breath, recharge and enjoy the lovely reactions from families, volunteers and location managers.

April to June

Preparing

We create the recipe and prepare the locations. New locations start their preparation: a website, a bank account number and everything else they need.

August and September

Kickoff

We finalise the recipe and prepare the shopping calculator, the forms and all other information.

October to December

Action

We prepare the action day and help the locations collect donations. We inform volunteers and talk to network groups, partners and social partners. The action day itself takes place in December.

€ 75

The Christmas menu for one family costs about € 75: an evening full of warmth, togetherness and delicious food. The gifts for the children come on top. That shows you right away what your contribution means.

Where your company fits

There is no fixed amount. We look together at what fits, locally at one of our locations or nationally.

A donation from your company, one-off or spread over the year.

Products or services

Think of Christmas hampers, catering, transport or printing.

A team day
